Dukes force finale, fall 8-3 in game two

CHASKA, Minn. - Dundas defeated Mankato 3-2 in the first game of the day, but lost the finale 8-3 to finish as the Class B Runner Up on Monday at Chaska's Athletic Park. Todd Mathison worked five strong innings to pick up the win in game one, before leaving the game with cramps, and returned to throw three scoreless in the second game. Dana Kiecker threw the final four innings in the first game to pick up the save.

Mankato used a seven-run fourth inning in the deciding game.

The Dukes' Mathison, Rich Bordas, Brandon Rolloff and Robin Moore were named to the All-Tournament team. Dundas finished the season 36-13.

Moriarty gem gets Dukes to title series

SHAKOPEE, Minn. - Hastings' draftee Mark Moriarty threw a two-hit complete game to lead Dundas over Maple Lake 8-1 to give the Dukes (35-12) a berth in the title series with undefeated Mankato.

Todd Mathison and Steve Loos went 2-for-4 while Javy Guevara went 2-for-5 for Dundas, which scored four in the third and three in the fourth.


Mankato rallies past Dukes

SHAKOPEE, Minn. - Mankato scored eight runs in the first three innings on the way to a 12-2 win over Dundas in the winner's bracket final of the Class B State Tournament on Saturday night. The loss snapped the Dukes' seven-game winning streak and was the worst loss of 2008.

Dundas closed to within 8-2 on Todd Mathison's two-run single in the fifth, but the Twins responded with a pair of two-run rallies in the seventh and eighth to earn the run-rule victory. Mankato had 17 hits in the win, while Dundas had seven.

The Dukes, who committed a season-high four errors, will play the winner of Maple Lake and St. Michael tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. with a trip to the championship series on the line. The winner will then have to defeat Mankato twice to win the state crown.

Dukes down Marshall 5-1, advance to winner's bracket final

CHASKA, Minn. - Dundas scored a run in each of the first three innings on the way to a 5-1 win over Marshall in the winner's bracket semifinals of the Class B Amateur Baseball Tournament on Sunday evening at Chaska's Athletic Park. Red Wing draftee Andy Gibert threw five innings to pick up the win while Hastings' Mark Moriarty pitched the final four to collect the save.

The Dukes (34-11), who have won six straight, will play next Saturday in the winner's bracket final at 6 p.m. in Shakopee against Mankato.

Moore drives in six to lead Dukes to second round win

SHAKOPEE, Minn. - Robin Moore went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and six RBI to lead Dundas to a 12-1, ten run-rule win over Eagan in the second round of the Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament on Saturday evening.

The Dukes will take on the Marshall at 5 p.m. on Sunday at Chaska in the winner's bracket semifinals.

Dukes defeat host Chaska 8-3 in state tournament opener

CHASKA, Minn. - Brandon Rolloff and Todd Mathison each went 2-for-5, Javy Guevara 2-for-3 and Steve Loos belted a two-run homer to lead Dundas past host Chaska 8-3 on Saturday in the first round of the Class B State Tournament.

With the win, the Dukes (32-11) advance to the double-elimination portion of the tournament and will play the winner of Sunday's first round game between Eagan and Coon Rapids. Chaska was eliminated with the loss.

Rolloff homer gets Dukes past Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. - Brandon Rolloff hit a two-run, ninth-inning homer to break a 2-2 tie as the Dukes defeated host Rochester 4-2 on Sunday evening at Mayo Park. Jeff Deuth got the complete game win, allowing no earned runs on five hits, for Dundas (27-10).

Blue Sox slam past Dukes

DUNDAS, Minn. - The Austin Blue Sox scored four times in the third, on a Dan Swift grand slam, and three times in the fourth to get past Dundas 9-2 on Wednesday night at Memorial Park. Dundas stranded 11 runners in the loss, their second straight. It is the Dukes' first losing streak of 2008.

Ninth, tenth inning rallies save Dukes in win over Jordan

JORDAN, Minn. - Dundas scored two in the ninth and five in the tenth to defeat host Jordan 8-3 in the second round of the Coors Light Classic on Saturday evening. The win is the Dukes' eighth straight and sets up a 3 p.m. Sunday title game match up with Cold Spring, which defeated Shakopee and Jordan earlier in the day. Dundas beat Shakopee 11-3 on Friday in a rain-shortened first round contest.


LePage outing helps Dundas past Hawks

HASTINGS, Minn. - Dundas starter Tony LePage tossed a complete game, allowing one run while striking out nine, as the Dukes beat host Hastings 6-1 on Saturday night at Veteran's Field.
