Two-out rally in 10th capped by Jones walk-off single gives Dukes 3-2 win over Angels
May 11 2011 - DUNDAS, Minn. - Carson Jones hit a game-winning single as the last of three straight two-out hits as Dundas rallied for a 3-2 amateur baseball win over the Minneapolis Angels in 10 innings on Wednesday night at Memorial Park.
The 10th inning two-run rally followed a heroic ninth inning, when Todd Mathison singled in the game-tying run with two outs on a drive into right field, a ball that momentarily looked like it was caught by a sliding Angels right fielder Mike Nellessen.
The Dukes' Pat Wadzinski drove in the game-tying run in the 10th on a single to right field. After a Mike Ludwig single, Jones delivered with a blast off the left field fence to end the game and give Dundas its second straight walk off victory.
Ludwig was 3-for-4 in the win for the Dukes while Nick Rathmann was 2-for-5 for the Angels.
Jeff Brisbois got the win for Dundas, as he worked the eighth, ninth and 10th innings, allowing an unearned run on a hit and a walk. Dukes starter Drew Johnson allowed a run on five hits in his seven innings.
Mike Carrell took the loss for the Angels, despite striking out nine in his five-plus innings of relief.
Dundas hosts the Shakopee Indians in a rematch of the 2010 State Class B state title series on Friday on Frandsen Bank and Trust Fright Night. Last season, the teams split the four meetings between the clubs.
