Dukes reach title series with wins over Rochester, Savage
SEPTEMBER 5, 2010 - WILLMAR, Minn. - Matt Neuger and Drew Johnson each tossed complete game victories as Dundas defeated Rochester 8-0 and Savage 7-1 on Sunday to reach Monday's Minnesota Class B state title series.
Dundas 8, Rochester 0
Nueger allowed six hits and two walks while striking out one in the shutout victory over Rochester.
Dundas took advantage of five Rochester errors and had two-hit games from Carson Jones and Javy Guevara to advance. Tim Oesterlin had two hits to lead Rocheser.
Dundas 7, Savage 1
The Dukes avenged their only state tournament loss with a 7-1 win over Savage, helped by Johnson's six-hit, complete game win.
Jones went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs and Brandon Rolloff went 4-for-4 as Dundas scored single runs in the first and third innings and five in the seventh. Jones and Steve Loos homered in the five-run seventh.
Johnson lost a chance at the second shutout of the day with two outs in the ninth.
