Dukes advance with 5-1 win over Bemidji
AUGUST 21, 2010 - Willmar, Minn. - Dundas defeated Bemidji 5-1 behind eight shutout innings from starter Charlie Ruud in the first round of the Minnesota Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament at Bill Taunton Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Ruud struck out seven, walked none and extended his scoreless inning streak to 28 in the process.
Mike Ludwig went 3-for-4, Rich Bordas 2-for-4 and Brandon Rolloff 2-for-5 for the Dukes (39-11), who broke a scoreless tie with a three-run fifth inning. Bordas capped the rally with a two-run double and added a bunt single later in the game.
Dundas will play Rochester in the second round of the tournament, which is a double-elimination event after the first round, on Saturday in Bird Island at 5 p.m. The Dukes split a pair of regular season games with the Royals, winning 9-3 on June 11 in Rochester before dropping a 7-3 game in Dundas on July 28.
