Ruud tosses shutout as Dukes top Northfield 5-0
JULY 4, 2010 - NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Charlie Ruud tossed a five-hit shutout as Dundas topped Northfield 5-0 in a Classic Cannon Valley League game on Sunday afternoon at Sechler Park.
Steve Loos went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Mike Ludwig 2-for-5 with two RBIs as well as the Dukes (25-6, 8-4 CCVL) won their 13th in a row overall and seventh straight in league play.
In four CCVL games this week, Dundas pitchers allowed only one run and two walks.
Dundas struck for a run in the first on a two-out single by Loos and then scored four in the fifth inning. Carson Jones, who went 2-for-4, scored twice.
Northfield was led by Charlie Hakes, who went 2-for-3 in the loss.
The Dukes are off until the Jordan Tournament, which runs Friday - Sunday. Dundas opens with a game against Shakopee on Friday night before playing host Jordan on Saturday and Cold Spring on Sunday.
Five Dukes -- Javy Guevara, Ludwig, Brandon Rolloff, Carson Jones and Ruud -- will play in Wednesday's CCVL All-Star Game against the CVL. The game begins at 8 p.m. in Elko, Minn.
