Dukes' 4-3 win in game one forces rematch, but Wasolaski powers Indians to title in game two
SEPTEMBER 6, 2010 - BIRD ISLAND, Minn. - Charlie Ruud tossed a seven-hit complete game to lead Dundas to a 4-3 win in game one, but Shakopee's Troy Wasilowski homered and drove in all three runs as the Indians won their second straight Minnesota Class B Amateur State Baseball title with a 3-1 victory in the day's second game.
Game One: Dundas 4, Shakopee 3
Ruud struck out seven and allowed seven hits and walked none to get Dundas to the state title game for the second time in three seasons.
Steve Loos went 3-for-4 and Javy Guevara 2-for-4 for the Dukes at the plate.
Dundas scored two runs in the first inning on a Brandon Rolloff walk, Mike Ludwig RBI-double and a RBI groundout from Tyler Jones. Dundas added a run in the third on three hits and Pat Wadzinski's run-scoring fielder's choice.
Wasilowski went 2-for-4 with a homer and Aaron Olson also homered for Shakopee, which went in order in the ninth.
Game Two: Shakopee 3, Dundas 1
Wasiloski went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs to give Shakopee the state championship. His two-out, two-run homer in the first inning provided all the offense the Indians needed.
Dundas (44-13) had five hits in the first two innings off Shakopee starter Scott Hollingsworth -- a draftee from Jordan -- but were only able to push one run across.
Rolloff went 3-for-4 for Dundas in the loss. Rolloff, Carson Jones, Todd Mathison and Ruud were named to the all-tournament team.
Dundas starter Chris Olean, a draftee from Miesville, went 7 2/3 innings, allowing eight hits and two walks while striking out three. The Dukes' pitching staff allowed just 10 earned runs in eight state tournament games (1.27 ERA). Olean took two tough-luck losses in the tournament, a 2-1 loss to Savage in the third round and the 3-1 loss in the Labor Day defeat to Shakopee.
Wasiloski was named the tournament MVP.
Dundas finished the season 44-13.
